Installing Mantis Bug Tracker with XAMPP

Mantis Bug Tracker is an Open Source Ticket Systems or Issue Tracker, written in Php and support for multiples databases including MySQL, PostgSQL and MS SQL. MantisBT allows people customizing per project: email notifications; issue fields; access control for users; workflows; and other things. In this post, I’ll be installing Mantis Bug Tracker with XAMPP.

Right now you can ask yourself what do I need to start?. Don’t worry, below you’ll find the links to download the required software.

Installation of XAMPP.

I’ll select the necessary components tu run Mantis Bug Tracker in XAMPP.

When the installation is complete, select the option to start the XAMPP control panel.

The following Control Panel will be executed and we’ll start Apache and MySQL.

If we open a browser and write localhost, we should see something like this below.

Installation of Mantis Bug Tracker.

Now, We’ll be continue with installation of Mantis Bug Tracker. First, unzip the file in next the path C:\xampp\htdocs

MantisBT Installation

We rename the folder to mantisbt or any other that is easy for you. Now, through a browser we enter to the next url http://localhost/mantisbt and we fill the fields.

MySQL root without password

If your root user in MySQL doesn’t have password, I recommend you this post

In this point, the system can take a time to process the installation. If everything is OK, the next time that we try to enter in the next url http://localhost/mantisbt we should see the Mantis login page.

Just so you know

The default user is administrator and his password is root
